frequently asked questions

How long will it take?

How long it takes is dependent upon what it is you want; shorter term therapy tends to address specific well-defined problems whereas longer term therapy is more likely to address the core of your issues.

How often will I see my counsellor or psychotherapist?

You can see them as frequently as you feel you need to, if they are available. Most clients initially see their counsellor once a week. If you feel you are in crisis then you may wish to see them more often.

How much will it cost?

Our fees range from £40 per session to £55 per session.

What is counselling and what is psychotherapy?

Many say that there is little difference between counselling and psychotherapy. Counselling tends to be used when you are dealing with some major upheaval in your life. It can help you through a specific, well-defined crisis. Psychotherapy tends to be used when you recognise that a pattern of behaving, thinking, or feeling, which has existed for some time, is interfering with your quality of life. It can help you identify the reasons for your problems and then make fundamental changes.

Will I have to talk about things I would prefer not to discuss?

You are free to discuss whatever you want. You may find that the more aspects of your experience you are willing to discuss, the more you get out of the process.

How long is a session?

Sessions are usually 50 minutes long.
